The Job
About Us:
The Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest acute and community Partnership arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion. Made up of two Trusts – Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) – our Partnership has significant ambitions and is committed to delivering world-class hospital and community services for the 1.65 million people we serve.
Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff. Our five main hospital sites are Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole and District Hospital, for NLAG and Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital for HUTH.
As Teaching Hospitals working with the Hull York Medical School, we both lead and contribute to research in many areas – biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery and oncology.
About the Department
At Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust we have recently invested £65 million into our Urgent and Emergency Care facilities, creating bespoke Emergency Departments and supporting Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) and Integrated Acute Assessment Units (IAAU) at both our acute sites in Grimsby and Scunthorpe.
Described by many visiting our sites as “some of the best emergency care facilities in the country”, the facilities were designed and built to the specification of our Urgent and Emergency Care teams, providing them with state-of-the art spaces to support flow and effective patient-driven care.
Our Emergency Departments have doubled in size, with more cubicles and the ability to use our spaces more flexibly, to manage surges in patients and meet individual patient needs. Located directly next to these departments are our new SDEC and IAAU units, enabling them to work in harmony with each other, helping to reduce demand and waiting times by making it easier to direct patients to the best pathway for their needs, without the need to first be admitted to a ward.
Staffed by experts in a range of disciplines, patients can be referred to these units by their GP, from 111. Via the ambulance service, or from our community and Emergency Department teams.
At Hull Royal Infirmary, we have recently opened a £2.77 million Urgent Treatment Centre to support our existing Emergency Department, reducing waiting times and demand for services and allowing those teams to focus on acute care provision.
The walk-in centre service is provided by our colleagues in the City Health Care Partnership CIC and has the added benefit of improved access to diagnostic services such as X-ray.
We believe that by developing a diverse, inclusive, innovative, skilled and caring workforce, we can deliver excellent care to our patients and a great future for our employees, our Partnership and our community.
