An exciting opportunity exists to join us at Path Links, based out of Lincoln County Hospital.
Path Links is a single mature established managed pathology network providing a service across greater Lincolnshire (Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire, and North East Lincolnshire) since 2001, nine sites in total. This includes Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLaG), United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULH) and associated local Integrated Care Boards.
The Department of Cellular Pathology is centralised at Lincoln County Hospital. It is up to date; user focused and offers a full range of laboratory and anatomical pathology facilities including an operational digital pathology system. The principal aim is to deliver high quality diagnostic histopathology, systemic cytopathology and autopsy service.
Path Links laboratories are based at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital Grimsby, Scunthorpe General Hospital, Lincoln County Hospital, Boston Pilgrim Hospital and Grantham District General Hospital. There are further Front of House and Phlebotomy services at Goole & District Hospital and Louth County Hospital. A comprehensive courier service ensures that specimens and consumables are collected from and delivered to the appropriate hospital sites and Primary Care providers.

The Role
The directorate provides diagnostic services for the specialities of Breast, Dermatology, Urology, Gynae, Gastrointestinal and Head and Neck. Path Links are keen to appoint a colleague with broader range of interests with the ability to cross cover areas including Gastrointestinal, Urology, Head & Neck and Dermatopathology. Workload would be tailored to experience and specialist area.
The service operates digitally, and Consultants are equipped with a reporting microscope and computer terminal and will additionally include a reporting workstation as digital reporting is expanded. Most consultants use voice recognition technology for reporting. As an alternative to voice recognition, digital dictation facilities are utilised for efficient transfer of work to the secretarial staff. Digital photographic equipment is available within the department.
